Every journey begins with a single step
- Maya Angelou

Counselling is a professional relationship that provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained person about your issues and concerns.

Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up
– Brene Brown

Counselling is not someone giving you their opinions,  advice or telling you what to do. Instead, it helps you to develop a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.

Counselling will help you find your own solutions, whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding healthy ways of coping with your challenges.

Integrative Counselling

Integrative counselling coherently weaves a variety of counselling techniques and theories to meet individual needs. This approach recognises that no one therapy method is effective for everyone, and therefore, it elicits a more personalised and effective treatment.

As your counsellor I will help you explore painful experiences,  thoughts, difficult  feelings, and ingrained behaviours which may be affecting your ability to be your best self and enjoy life fully.

Single Session Therapy

Single session therapy is designed to deal with a specific issue in one session with the understanding that more help is available if needed.

This requires you to be clear about how you want to use the session.

You would probably have given significant thought to the issue or time may be of the essence and you want a neutral, unbiased and non-judgemental professional to help you process things to reach your desired outcome.

Therapeutic issues covered:
  • Anxiety

  • Abuse, shame and trauma

  • Low mood and Depression

  • Bereavement, grief and loss including pet loss

  • Living with disabilities; chronic health conditions; disfigurements and appearance concerns

  • Identity, body image and self-esteem issues

  • Challenges around Spirituality and faith

  • Work-related issues including stress; career breaks; retirement and redundancy

  • Life transitions, meaning and  purpose

  • Intercultural and race issues

Getting started

We start with a 50 -minute assessment session where we talk about your therapeutic needs (what hurts), your history (what led to the hurts) and your motivation for change. The assessment session is the first opportunity for you to help me to understand your hopes and goals and I can share how I might be able to help you achieve the outcomes you seek.  It will involve me asking questions about you to get a picture of how best to support you. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
The assessment is available to you at a reduced rate of £35.

Sessions and Fees

Counselling is most effective when carried out on a regular consistent basis. This is why I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions depending on individual circumstances. Therapy can be time-limited or open-ended according to each client's preference.

Format:

Both Assessment sessions and standard counselling sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Sessions are held by telephone or videocalls using Teams.

I work with clients aged 18+.

Fees:

Standard counselling sessions are charged at £65 per session.
A single session therapy session lasts 90 minutes and is charged at £120.

Concessionary rates are available for students and the unwaged.

Block bookings:

You may wish to book blocks of 3 (£190), 6 (£380) or 12 (£750) sessions which can help you commit to getting the best from your sessions with a small discount on your fees.

However, there is no right or wrong way to engage in therapy, it’s really about your commitment and what works for you.

“I found the sessions with Dola so very helpful. I feel like I've come a very long way through the counselling sessions, and am really grateful to her for the support."
